Configuring scores and penalties

The quiz defines the score or weight of each question. The activity determines how these values are used and which penalty policy applies.

The configuration provides four levels: none, low, medium, and high. Before using penalties in an assessment, verify the outcome with a trial activity.

If an activity allows retrying the attempt, the configuration of the accumulated grade calculation is also important. Review the policy applied to multiple attempts so that the result of one attempt is not confused with the overall result.

Open-ended questions may require later grading and alter the provisional result. Do not present a grade pending correction as final.
